It’s hard to believe that Tileyard North has already completed over six months of operation.

Time has truly flown by since the opening of our creative hub which has been years in the making. With an impressive roster of achievements and milestones, we’re excited to take a moment to reflect on all that has transpired in this short period.

Tileyard North is finding its place as a hub for events – in the first six months, we’ve had the privilege of hosting more than 30 events with over 20,000 attendees – both private and public. Amongst these, we’ve welcomed the Hepworth Print Fair, Ceramics Fair, and most recently, Peddler Market Wakefield. Our monthly TYX Presents evenings began in June, and quickly became a hit with both locals and creatives alike. 

With over 70 dedicated residents/staff members, Tileyard North has become a haven for creatives, musicians and artists alike – from Uber Agency and Architecture 1B, Pure Energy GO and Tidy Trax, to Audoo and Music Factory. With resident studio holders Matt Sanchez, Nick McEnally, James Oliver and Real Movement Music settling in, their music has resonated widely with audiences on a global scale. Notable artists like Shayne Ward, Birdy, Judge Jules, Steve Edwards, Jamie Lawson and Rosie Doonan have found a nurturing environment within our walls when visiting. 

Over these six months, The Yorkshire Brasserie has proudly served modern bistro food and seasonally inspired cuisine alongside Yorkshire favourites. While next door, Gary Ford – the founder of Forged Spirits – has brought his expertise to Tileyard North moving its HQ to the site. In these first six months, Forged Spirits has distilled an impressive 1869 bottles of gin – featuring two new variants (Spring & Summer). The spirits have quickly become favourites among our residents – and in The Distillery Bar – and Gary’s not stopping there, watch out for his new premium sipping vodka and rum.

And that’s not all. We’ve also had five camps onsite including the BBC Look North featured ‘Let’s Make Music Summer Camp’ by residents, North Star 360 and Reimagine Records Lofi and Cinematic Camps (Directed by Tileyard North’s Emma Stakes). Our TYX Podcast Suite has seen a steady stream of creativity as well. Since their launch in May, over 100 hours of podcasts have been recorded within our walls.

Following the move-in of Hague and White in our resident studios (Chris Hague and Steve White) – who have worked with the likes of Paul Weller, Pulp, The Who, Moloko, and more – a live drum workshop was recorded in our TYX Cotton Mill Studio to share with audiences far and wide online. Meanwhile, we’ve been hard at work setting up the TYX Film & Photography Space alongside photographer, Johnny Carr. September also saw the launch of 45 Sessions – in partnership with Tileyard North – a dynamic music production company and production platform for northern music talent.

As we celebrate these incredible accomplishments in our first six months, we can’t help but look forward to the future with anticipation and excitement. Tileyard North has proven itself as a growing hub of creativity, innovation, and collaboration, and we’re eager to see what the next chapters of our journey will bring.
